Dale L. Kennedy
NEW ERA — Friends and family of a 59-year-old New Era man killed Thursday while riding his motorcycle on U.S. 31 will gather for a funeral service Monday.

Dale Lynn Kennedy was pronounced dead at the 3:59 p.m. Thursday accident scene at northbound U.S. 31 in Whitehall Township, north of the Colby Street exit.

Police said Kennedy's motorcycle was struck by a van that was crossing two lanes of U.S. 31 to reach a median turnaround. The accident remains under investigation by the Muskegon County Sheriff's Department.

Prior to his death, Kennedy worked as a tool and diemaker for 35 years, had served in the U.S. Army and was an avid sportsman, according to family members.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tate-King Funeral Home, 2370 N. 72nd, in Hart.
Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hesperia Presbyterian Church.

The family has requested donations be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Michigan or Oceana Archery Club.

Memories of Kennedy can be shared on the funeral Web site at www.tatekingfuneralhome.com or www.dalekennedy.blogspot.com.
